Bio
Norm Barker was a diminutive recruit from University High School who briefly followed in the footsteps of his older brother, Gilbert, at the VFL level. He debuted for University in 1913, but his football ambitions largely took a backseat to his academic studies, restricting him to a solitary appearance for the Students. After a four-year absence from the league—during which the University club disbanded—Barker returned to the field with Fitzroy during the 1917 season. He managed two final games for the Maroons but was unable to secure a regular spot in the senior side, concluding a short career defined more by his off-field priorities than his on-field exploits.
