Bio
Recruited from the Dandenong Stingrays, Peter "Spida" Everitt established himself as one of the league's most athletic and versatile ruckmen after debuting for St Kilda in 1993. Distinctive for his on-field flair and vertical leap, Everitt was a prototype for the modern mobile ruck, possessing the endurance to cover the ground and the skill to push forward as a genuine goal-kicking threat. He was a dual All-Australian at the Saints, though his tenure at Moorabbin was marred by the heartbreak of missing the 1997 Grand Final due to a collarbone injury and eventually ended in acrimony following a public fallout with coach Grant Thomas.
Everitt crossed to Hawthorn in 2003, where he rejuvenated his career and claimed a third All-Australian blazer in 2005 while providing experienced leadership for a rebuilding squad. Despite his elite individual form, the search for elusive team success saw him request a trade to Sydney, a move initially blocked by the Hawks before eventually being sanctioned for the 2007 season. He spent his final two years manning the ruck for the Swans, retiring just shy of the 300-game milestone and finishing his career as one of the most durable and skilled big men of his generation.
