Stats
Bio
A midfielder recruited from Eaglehawk in the Bendigo Football League, Peter Lyon made a sharp but significant impact during his brief tenure at Glenferrie Oval. He broke into the senior side during the formidable John Kennedy Sr era, playing 13 games in his debut 1963 season and earning a spot on the bench for the Grand Final loss to Geelong. Unable to cement a permanent place in the lineup the following year, he left the VFL to pursue a successful career as a captain-coach in regional football, notably leading Devonport in Tasmania and later piloting Kyabram to a premiership in the Goulburn Valley. While his own top-level career was short, his legacy extended into the next generation as the father of Melbourne captain and media personality Garry Lyon.
