Bio
Recruited from Shepparton, Peter Maynard began his career with a brief stint at Melbourne, where he managed just eight senior appearances across the 1980 and 1981 seasons. Unable to cement a regular spot in the VFL side, he transferred to the SANFL to join Glenelg, a move that ultimately defined his footballing life. At the Bays, Maynard flourished as a prolific, high-possession utility, becoming a central figure in the club's golden era under coach Graham Cornes. He played a pivotal role in Glenelg's famous back-to-back premierships in 1985 and 1986, playing nearly 200 games for the club and earning induction into its Hall of Fame. While his own time at the national level was limited, his legacy extended to the next generation, with his sons Corey (Melbourne) and Brayden (Collingwood) both reaching the AFL.
