Bio
Recruited from Melbourne High School Old Boys (MHSOB) in the VAFA, Philip Knight was a rover and small forward who provided depth to Fitzroy's list during the mid-1980s. Standing 178cm, he was a classic crumbing forward with a sharp eye for the goals, averaging nearly two goals every three games during his stints in the senior side. Knight played his most impactful football during the club's famous 1986 campaign, where he broke into the lineup late in the season and featured among the best players with a two-goal performance against Geelong in Round 22 to help secure a finals berth. Despite his ability to hit the scoreboard, he struggled to cement a permanent spot in a midfield rotation stacked with talent like Leon Harris and Scott McIvor, often finding himself on the fringe of the best 22. He departed the club at the end of 1988, remembered as a capable goal-sneak who contributed to the Roys' last competitive era in Melbourne.
