Bio
Selected by St Kilda with the eighth overall pick in the 2003 National Draft, Raphael Clarke arrived at Moorabbin with high expectations to play alongside his older brother Xavier. An athletic utility with a lanky frame, he was most often utilised as a loose man in defence where his intercept marking and rebound could be an asset, though he occasionally drifted forward or onto a wing. His career was frequently interrupted by recurring hamstring issues which prevented him from building continuity, and he often struggled to win over the fanbase due to perceived lapses in concentration and decision-making under pressure. Despite these challenges, Clarke was a member of the Saints' 2009 Grand Final side, but after failing to cement a permanent spot in the club's dominant lineup during the Ross Lyon era, he was delisted at the conclusion of the 2012 season.
