Bio
Recruited from Ivanhoe Amateurs, Robert Stibbard arrived at the Lake Oval with a strong footballing pedigree as the son of former South Melbourne and North Melbourne player Neville Stibbard. He debuted for South Melbourne in 1972, a year before his twin brother Neville joined the club, creating a brief sibling partnership in the red and white. A utility player standing 180cm, Stibbard was largely used in defensive roles but struggled to secure a permanent spot in the senior lineup, managing 14 games over three seasons. While his VFL playing career was brief, his stint at the club remains a significant part of the Stibbard family's long association with Victorian football, a legacy further cemented by his brother's later success as a renowned recruiter.
