Bio
Recruited from the country town of Drysdale, Ron Lunn was a tall and dashing wingman who initially made his mark with Geelong in the late 1940s. He was known for his ability to use his height and pace to dominate the open spaces of the ground, quickly becoming a regular in the Cats' lineup before crossing to Essendon ahead of the 1951 season. The move placed him at the centre of a dramatic narrative as his new club met his old side in that year's Grand Final, but Lunn was cruelly ruled out of the decider by injury, missing the chance to play for a premiership against his former teammates. He played one final season at Windy Hill before departing the VFL to coach Birchip in 1953, though the family name returned to the top level three decades later through his son, Stephen.
