Bio
Recruited from the Northern Knights with the 19th selection in the 2004 National Draft, Ryan Willits was an imposing key position prospect whose physical maturity at a young age tantalised recruiters. Standing at nearly two metres tall, he was viewed as a long-term option as a key forward or relieving ruckman, but he arrived at Alberton during an era where premiership duo Brendon Lade and Dean Brogan had a mortgage on the club's ruck division. Despite his raw size and strength, Willits struggled to find the mobility and consistency required to impact at the elite level, finding himself stuck behind established stars and unable to translate his SANFL form to the senior side. He managed just three appearances in the Power guernsey before being delisted, eventually remaining in South Australia to carve out a successful state league career with West Adelaide.
