Bio
A product of the Norwood Redlegs, Scott Bassett was an inaugural member of Port Adelaide’s AFL squad who had to bide his time on the rookie list before earning senior elevation. A versatile key position player capable of operating at both ends of the ground, he found it difficult to crack a Power lineup that was regularly contending for finals, managing just 15 appearances across four years. After being delisted by Port, he was handed a career lifeline by the Western Bulldogs in the 2002 National Draft. Bassett immediately slotted into the Bulldogs' defence, playing the first seven games of 2003 before a thigh injury interrupted his progress. He played two seasons at the Whitten Oval before returning to South Australia, where he eventually transitioned into a respected coaching career with Norwood and Port Adelaide.
