Bio
Recruited from Hobart, Scott Wade was a promising rover who joined Hawthorn in 1981 with a strong footballing pedigree as the son of Tasmanian champion Paddy Wade. Despite his talent, he found it difficult to command a regular position in a formidable Hawks lineup that was entering a golden era, ultimately managing just 12 senior games across three seasons while competing for midfield minutes against legends like Leigh Matthews and Michael Tuck. Following his departure from the VFL, Wade returned to Tasmania where he carved out a significant legacy as a premiership player and coach with Clarence before serving as the long-time CEO of AFL Tasmania. He is also recognised by modern sporting audiences as the father of Australian cricketer Matthew Wade.
