Bio
Recruited from West Adelaide, Scott Welsh began his AFL career with North Melbourne, where he quickly found success as a member of the Kangaroos' 1999 premiership side. While he showed utility value at Arden Street, his career truly flourished after a trade to the Adelaide Crows ahead of the 2000 season. At West Lakes, Welsh transformed into one of the competition's most reliable medium-sized forwards, leading the club's goalkicking on four separate occasions. Renowned for his explosive lead, deceptive strength in one-on-one contests, and clinical set-shot routine, he served as a potent focal point for the Crows during their strong mid-2000s era despite lacking the height of a traditional key position player.
Following a contract stalemate with Adelaide at the conclusion of the 2007 season, Welsh entered the pre-season draft and was selected by the Western Bulldogs. He provided the Bulldogs with a veteran avenue to goal, helping the side reach consecutive preliminary finals before announcing his retirement. He finished his career as a distinctive forward who maximised his opportunities, leaving the game with over 200 appearances, a premiership medallion, and a reputation as a sharpshooter who could turn a match in a single quarter.
