Bio
Recruited from the Bendigo Pioneers with pick 29 in the 2020 National Draft, Seamus Mitchell’s time at Hawthorn was defined by a resilience that saw him fight his way back from the football scrapheap. After persistent injuries ruined his first two seasons, he was delisted at the end of 2022 without a senior appearance, only for the Hawks to immediately re-list him as a rookie—a lifeline he capitalised on by finally making his debut in 2023. Mitchell quickly found his niche as a dashing half-back, using his line-breaking speed and courageous intercept marking to earn a Rising Star nomination during a breakout stretch of form. Despite showing promise as a rebounding defender, he struggled to cement a permanent spot as Hawthorn’s backline stocks deepened, eventually leading to his departure from the club at the conclusion of the 2025 season.
