Bio
Drafted from South Fremantle with pick 29 in the 2016 National Draft, Shai Bolton arrived at Richmond as a raw prospect and departed as one of the club's most decorated modern players. The son of former Docker Darren Bolton, he quickly established himself in the Tigers' senior setup, becoming a vital member of the 2019 and 2020 premiership sides. While initially deployed as a high-pressure small forward, Bolton developed into an explosive midfield-forward hybrid, renowned for his vertical leap, supreme evasiveness in heavy traffic, and ability to create scoring opportunities from nothing.
His individual brilliance was formally recognised with the 2021 Mark of the Year and All-Australian selection in 2022, a season where he cemented his status as an elite match-winner. Despite being a contracted star at Punt Road and a shining light during the club's post-dynasty decline, Bolton requested a trade back to Western Australia at the conclusion of the 2024 season to return home with his family. The move to Fremantle was finalised in a high-profile deal that saw the Dockers part with significant draft capital, securing the dynamic game-breaker to add X-factor and class to their premiership pursuit.
