Bio
Recruited from South Adelaide with the tenth overall pick in the 1999 National Draft, Stephen Doyle was a mobile ruckman and forward whose AFL career was severely hampered by persistent injuries. Despite arriving at the Swans with high expectations as a top-ten selection, he struggled to string games together due to recurring knee and ankle problems, rarely playing more than a handful of matches in a single season. When fit, Doyle offered a strong marking target and distinct agility for his size, often deputising for lead ruckmen Jason Ball and Darren Jolly. His most notable period came in 2006 when he forced his way into the side for the Grand Final loss against West Coast, but his body ultimately let him down, leading to his delisting at the end of the 2007 season having never fully realised his potential.
