Bio
Originating from the Western Australian Goldfields town of Kanowna, Ted Cahill established himself as a robust talent with Subiaco and represented his home state before crossing the Nullarbor to ply his trade in Victoria. After an initial stint with Williamstown in the VFA, the 187cm key position prospect was recruited by Footscray, where he utilized his imposing frame as a ruck-forward utility across two VFL seasons. Despite a respectable return of 16 goals in 20 games, his tenure at the elite level was brief, and he subsequently returned to the Seagulls to become a prominent captain-coach in the Association. His legacy as a hard-nosed footballing figure was later coloured by a 1939 conviction for operating a gaming house in his shop, adding a touch of larrikin notoriety to his post-career profile.
