Bio
Recruited from Port Melbourne, Ted Freyer arrived at Essendon in 1929 after a contentious permit dispute to become one of the most prolific forwards of his era. Renowned for his spectacular high marking and reliable finishing, Freyer operated effectively as both a full-forward and half-forward, averaging exactly three goals a game across his VFL career. He became the focal point of the Bombers' attack during the 1930s, topping the club's goalkicking list four times and earning selection for Victoria. Following nine seasons at Windy Hill, he returned to his roots in the VFA, where he continued his goal-scoring dominance with Port Melbourne.
