Bio
Recruited from the local Geelong Artillery side, Teddy Holligan established himself as a foundational pillar of the Geelong Football Club during the newly formed VFL's infancy. As a member of the pivot line in the club's inaugural VFL match against Essendon in Round 1, 1897, he quickly became a fixture of the senior side, missing very few matches over the league’s first five seasons. Operating primarily as a half-forward, Holligan was not a prolific goal-kicker by modern standards, but his durability and consistency allowed him to accumulate 84 games in an era where careers were often fleeting. After stepping away from the game for the entire 1902 season, he returned for one final campaign in 1903 before hanging up his boots, paving the way for his relatives Mick and Joe Holligan to don the hoops in the following decade.
