Bio
Recruited by the Gold Coast Suns with pick 11 in the 2010 National Draft, Tom Lynch emerged from the Dandenong Stingrays to become the expansion club's definitive key forward during its foundational years. His dominance in the air saw him claim two Best and Fairest awards and All-Australian selection in 2016, eventually earning him the co-captaincy. However, his tenure at the Suns ended under intense scrutiny when he exercised his rights as a restricted free agent to return to Victoria at the end of 2018. Joining Richmond on a significant deal, Lynch immediately justified the high-profile switch, playing a vital role in the Tigers' 2019 and 2020 premiership triumphs.
A prototypical power forward, Lynch built his reputation on an ability to crash packs, take contested marks at the highest point, and convert long-range set shots. His partnership with Jack Riewoldt provided the structural backbone of the Tigers' dynasty era, allowing the team to exploit his aggressive aerial presence. While recurring injuries significantly hampered his continuity during the middle of his Richmond tenure, often restricting him to the sidelines for extended periods, he remained a match-winner when fit. Now a veteran presence in the forward line, Lynch stands as a dual premiership player who successfully navigated the pressure of a blockbuster trade to deliver silverware.
