Family

Arriving at Glenferrie Oval with a rich family pedigree, Trevor Randall was the son of 1930s wingman Viv Randall and joined the club from local side Murrumbeena. He quickly established himself as a dominant force in the underage ranks, captaining the under-19s and claiming back-to-back best and fairest awards in 1958 and 1959 thanks to his strong ruck work and on-field leadership. Despite his junior accolades and a role in two reserves premierships, Randall found senior opportunities scarce in the burgeoning Hawks lineup, managing just two VFL appearances in 1960 before departing the league. He subsequently carved out a successful tenure in country football, notably captain-coaching Rochester to consecutive grand finals in the Bendigo league, before returning to Hawthorn in 1978 where he served for decades as an under-19s coach, runner, and committee member, eventually earning life membership at the club.
