Bio
Arriving at the Gabba as the most highly touted father-son recruit in Brisbane's history, Will Ashcroft immediately translated his dominance at junior level to the AFL arena after being taken with pick 2 in the 2022 National Draft. The son of club legend Marcus Ashcroft showed rare composure and accumulation skills in his debut season before a ruptured ACL abruptly ended his year, forcing him to miss the Lions' 2023 Grand Final appearance. His return midway through 2024 proved pivotal, adding polish and drive to the midfield as he capped a remarkable comeback by winning the Norm Smith Medal in Brisbane's premiership victory over Sydney. A clean-handling midfielder who combines high-volume possession winning with an ability to drift forward and kick goals, Ashcroft has quickly overcome early injury adversity to cement himself as one of the competition's elite young talents and a cornerstone of the Lions' engine room.
