Bio
Harper Banfield is a hard-working inside midfielder with strong family ties to West Coast. The son of dual Eagles premiership player Drew Banfield, and younger brother of St Kilda midfielder Charlie Banfield, Harper has established his own football credentials this season. Coming through Cottesloe Junior Football Club and Scotch College, he featured for Claremont before making his senior WAFL debut for West Coast. Banfield enjoyed an outstanding Under-18 National Championships for Western Australia. He played all four matches and proved particularly influential in turning the tide during a comeback victory over Vic Country at Marvel Stadium. Back at colts level, he was named best on ground in the opening week of the finals.
On the field, Banfield is a force in contested situations who wins the hard ball and applies relentless tackling pressure to slow down the opposition. He embraces a team-first approach and models his work ethic on the likes of Zak Butters and Andrew Brayshaw. Recognised with a state draft combine invite, Banfield is firmly on the radar of recruiters. As an official father-son prospect for West Coast, the Eagles are widely expected to match any rival bid to secure his services in the national draft.
