Bio
Recruited from Sturt with pick 3 in the 2021 Mid-Season Draft, Ash Johnson was a mature-age talent from Halls Creek who took a winding path to the AFL. The brother of Adelaide forward Shane McAdam, Johnson quickly displayed his high-flying attributes, establishing himself as a medium-tall forward capable of taking spectacular contested marks and converting difficult set shots. He enjoyed a breakout patch in the latter half of 2022, becoming a dangerous target inside 50 during Collingwood's surge up the ladder. However, Johnson struggled to maintain that consistency in subsequent seasons, often finding himself squeezed out of the senior side by established key forwards and fluctuating form. Unable to cement a permanent spot in the best 22, he remained a depth player for the remainder of his time at the club before departing at the end of 2025.
