Bio
Brad Ebert entered the AFL carrying one of South Australian football's most famous surnames, being the nephew of Magarey Medal legend Russell Ebert and cousin to Brett. Despite his deep ties to the Port Adelaide Magpies, he began his elite career across the Nullarbor after West Coast selected him with pick 13 in the 2007 National Draft. Ebert proved to be an immediate asset for the Eagles, demonstrating durability and promise over four seasons before the lure of home saw him request a trade to the Power at the end of 2011 to continue the family dynasty at Alberton.
At Port Adelaide, Ebert became the definition of a heart-and-soul clubman, renowned for his elite aerobic capacity, relentless tackling pressure, and courageous attack on the football. While he spent significant time as a hard-running midfielder, his versatility allowed him to transition into a high half-forward role later in his career, where his overhead marking and defensive accountability remained crucial. A long-serving vice-captain who played with his head over the ball—often necessitating a helmet in his final seasons due to concussion history—Ebert retired at the end of 2020 as a revered leader who extracted every ounce of ability from his 260-game career.
