Family

Recruited from Williamstown after claiming the Gardiner Medal as the best and fairest player in the reserves competition, Brad Lloyd was a prolific state-league midfielder who earned a late opportunity with Hawthorn via pick 67 in the 1997 National Draft. The older brother of Essendon champion Matthew Lloyd, Brad was a natural ball-winner and a smart, accumulating rover, though he ultimately lacked the explosive leg speed required to consistently impact games at the elite level. He managed 11 senior appearances over two seasons in the brown and gold, struggling to cement a regular spot in the 22 before being delisted at the end of 1999. Following his AFL exit, Lloyd returned to Williamstown to establish himself as a VFL legend, captaining the Seagulls to a premiership and winning three club champion awards before transitioning into a successful off-field career as a senior football administrator for Fremantle and Carlton.
