Bio
Recruited from Mildura, Brendan Bower was the eldest of three brothers to represent Richmond, paving the way for siblings Darren and Nathan at Punt Road. A graduate of the Tigers' 1985 Under-19s premiership side, he quickly developed into a dashing half-back flanker and wingman known for his pace and willingness to back his judgement. Bower became a reliable contributor during a difficult era for the club, with his consistent form eventually earning him Victorian state selection in 1990. After departing Richmond, he was thrown a lifeline by Essendon in the 1991 National Draft; while he only managed fleeting senior appearances for the Bombers, he played a key role in their 1992 reserves premiership under coach Denis Pagan. When Pagan took the senior reins at North Melbourne the following year, he recruited Bower to Arden Street for one final season at the top level.
