Bio
Selected with pick 17 in the 2019 National Draft from the Bendigo Pioneers, Brodie Kemp arrived at Princes Park as a highly rated prospect whose immediate impact was delayed by a long rehabilitation from an ACL injury sustained during his draft year. Initially viewed as a tall utility capable of pushing into the midfield, he endured a stop-start beginning to his career as he oscillated between the VFL and the senior side while searching for a defined position. Kemp eventually found his footing as an athletic third tall defender, using his vertical leap and reading of the play to intercept opposition entries, though he retained the versatility to swing forward as a marking target when structural gaps required coverage. Despite showing flashes of brilliance at both ends of the ground, he has largely served as a depth player and structural fix rather than a permanent fixture, entering the latter stages of his contract as a valuable swingman fighting to lock down a spot in Carlton's best 22.
