Bio
The younger brother of Collingwood patriarch Bob Rush, Bryan arrived at Victoria Park from amateur side Beverley as part of the league’s most prolific sibling dynasty. While Bob was a defensive stalwart, Bryan was a lively forward with a sharp nose for goal and a beautiful kick, immediately impressing with a four-goal haul in just his third senior appearance. His promising VFL career was abruptly cut short by the outbreak of World War I, where he enlisted early and served as a Captain in London. Rather than returning to the Magpies after hostilities ended, Rush moved to Sydney, where he became a pioneering figure for the code in New South Wales as a state captain, coach, and selector.
