Cameron Guthrie

Selected by the Cats with pick 23 in the 2010 National Draft from the Calder Cannons, Cameron Guthrie initially carved out a niche at AFL level as a disciplined lockdown defender and tagger. This defensive apprenticeship laid the foundation for his eventual transition into the midfield engine room, where he became renowned for his elite two-way running, composure in traffic, and clean distribution. While he spent his early years playing a supporting role to established superstars, Guthrie elevated his game significantly in his late 20s to become a prime mover in Geelong's midfield, claiming the Carji Greeves Medal in both 2020 and 2022 and earning All-Australian selection in 2020.

A pivotal member of Geelong's dominant 2022 Premiership side, Guthrie shared the flag triumph with his younger brother, Zach, cementing the family's legacy at Kardinia Park. While his durability was a hallmark for the majority of his career, his output in the seasons following the premiership was severely hampered by persistent foot and toe injuries that restricted his on-field presence. Despite these late-career frustrations, Guthrie stands as a modern Geelong great who successfully transformed himself from a utility role-player into a decorated club champion and dual best and fairest winner.
