Bio
Recruited from Clifton Hill, Charlie Naismith is often remembered as the twin brother of Fitzroy premiership stalwart Wally Naismith. While his brother anchored the backline during the Maroons' golden era, Charlie was a capable forward who possessed a sharp eye for the big sticks, averaging better than a goal a game during a low-scoring defensive period of the sport. His career followed a peculiar trajectory; after a promising debut season in 1902, he fell out of senior selection for three consecutive years, forcing him to watch from the sidelines as the club won back-to-back flags in 1904 and 1905. He fought his way back into the lineup in 1906 to add some scoring punch to the side, but ultimately struggled to cement a permanent place in the powerhouse squad, leaving the league in 1907 while his twin played on for another five seasons.
