Bio
The youngest of the famous Daniher brotherhood from Ungarie in the New South Wales Riverina, Chris Daniher joined his three older brothers—Terry, Neale, and Anthony—at Essendon in the late 1980s. While he arrived at Windy Hill with the weight of the family name, he carved out a respectable career as a reliable utility and defender, famously creating VFL/AFL history in Round 22, 1990 against St Kilda when he took the field alongside all three siblings in the same senior side. Unlike the high-flying exploits of Terry, Chris was known for his discipline, work rate, and ability to shut down opponents, often playing a crucial structural role in Kevin Sheedy's backline.
Although injuries hampered his continuity at times, Daniher became a vital component of the Bombers' resurgence in the early 1990s. His crowning achievement came in 1993, where he played a key role in the "Baby Bombers" Premiership side, helping secure the flag against Carlton. He retired in 1997 as a one-club player and a life member, cementing the Daniher family's legacy as one of the most significant dynasties in the history of the Essendon Football Club.
