Bio
Born in North Melbourne, Chris Fogarty was a member of a renowned footballing dynasty, becoming one of four brothers to play VFL football and famously lining up alongside siblings Joe and Tom at University. He briefly broke into the Essendon side in 1906, but his career truly began in earnest when the Students entered the league in 1908, prompting his transfer to the new club to play with his family. A strong mark and versatile follower who could also hold down a key defensive post, Fogarty became a leader for the amateur side, eventually serving as club captain in 1910. He retired after three seasons to focus on his profession as a veterinary surgeon before tragically losing his life in service at Gallipoli during the First World War.
