Bio
Recruited from Norwood in the SANFL, Craig Kelly arrived at Victoria Park as a mature-age defender and quickly became the anchor of the Collingwood backline. Renowned for his physical strength and close-checking style, he was frequently tasked with nullifying the competition's most dangerous key forwards, engaging in memorable duels with the likes of Tony Lockett and Jason Dunstall. This uncompromising approach made him an integral component of the 1990 premiership side, where his defensive discipline helped end the club's 32-year flag drought.
Kelly played 122 games for the Magpies before injuries brought his on-field career to a close in 1996. While he was a formidable player, his influence on the game expanded significantly in retirement, first as one of the AFL's leading player agents and later returning to Collingwood as Chief Executive Officer. He remains a significant figure at the club, bridging the gap between the celebrated 1990 team and the modern administration, while seeing his sons Jake and Will follow in his footsteps at the elite level.
