Bio
Recruited from South Fremantle with pick 14 in the 1992 National Draft, Damien Gaspar was the first of three brothers to enter the AFL system, preceding fellow draftees Darren and Travis. A defensive unit capable of playing on small to medium forwards, his time at Melbourne was severely hampered by persistent injury setbacks that prevented him from fulfilling the promise shown as a high draft selection. Despite spending several years on the Demons' list, he managed only 29 senior appearances between 1995 and 1998, unable to secure a consistent run of health or form. While his brother Darren eventually forged a long career as an All-Australian full-back, Damien's stint at the elite level concluded when he departed the club following the 1998 season.
