Bio
The son of former Footscray player Stephen Macpherson, Darcy Macpherson arrived at the Gold Coast Suns via the rookie draft after being overlooked by the Western Bulldogs as a father-son prospect. Making his name initially as a high-pressure small forward, he enjoyed a breakout 2019 campaign where his relentless tackling and elite endurance earned him a third-place finish in the club's best and fairest. As the Suns' list evolved, Macpherson often found himself fighting for his place in the best 22, eventually reinventing himself as a hard-running half-back to extend his career. Despite his versatility and reputation as a selfless team player, he fell out of favour following the arrival of Damien Hardwick and was delisted at the end of 2024, departing the club just three games short of the 100-game milestone.
