Bio
Born into genuine Fitzroy royalty as the son of former player Fred Hart and brother to Arthur and Don, Eddie Hart was a "copybook" full-forward whose raw statistics bely his immense talent. Renowned for his blistering pace on the lead and a vice-like mark, Hart was a lethal finisher who averaged an elite 3.3 goals per game—a strike rate superior to many Hall of Fame forwards. His career was defined by two great interruptions: first by WWII service which stole his early prime, and secondly by the heartbreak of missing Fitzroy’s 1944 Premiership win due to injury. Despite these setbacks, he returned to dominate the post-war era, topping the club’s goalkicking for five consecutive seasons (1947–1951) and regularly finishing near the top of the VFL leaderboards before chronic injuries forced a premature retirement.
