Stats
Bio
Herbert Cock was a local product from Clifton Hill who briefly appeared for two of the league's biggest powerhouses in the pre-war era. A compact forward and midfielder standing just 171cm, he earned his initial opportunity with Collingwood in 1909 after impressing in the district ranks. Despite booting a goal in a win over St Kilda during his second match, he found senior opportunities scarce at Victoria Park and spent the entire 1910 season out of the VFL system. He resurfaced at Princes Park in 1911, crossing to arch-rivals Carlton in a bid to revive his league career, but managed just three senior appearances for the Blues before fading from the top level. His short tenure across two storied clubs typified the experience of many fringe players of the era who struggled to cement a regular spot in dominant lineups.
