Bio
A clever half-forward hailing from Warragul, Horrie Farmer arrived at Richmond with strong footballing pedigree as the son and nephew of former St Kilda players. He made an immediate impression at Punt Road, booting a club-record six goals on debut and retaining his place in the side for the 1933 Grand Final loss to South Melbourne. Despite his early success in the big smoke, the lure of the country proved strong; he returned to Gippsland for two seasons before North Melbourne enticed him back for a second VFL stint in 1936. A dangerous option near goal who could turn a game in a short burst, Farmer eventually drifted back to Warragul permanently during the 1937 season, leaving behind a brief but sharp VFL legacy before serving his country in the Second World War.
