Stats
Bio
Recruited directly from St Kilda State School, Horrie Farmer was a local talent who struggled to cement a regular spot in a Saints lineup that was just beginning to find competitive form. He made his debut during the club's improved 1907 campaign—a breakout season where St Kilda reached a preliminary final—but he could only manage a single appearance that year and added just two more games in 1908 before falling out of favour. Following his brief VFL stint, Farmer moved to the VFA with Prahran and later became a fixture in country football with Warragul in Gippsland. While his own career at the elite level was short-lived, he established a strong family connection to the league; his brother Roy played for St Kilda just prior to the First World War, and his son, also named Horrie, eventually forged a successful VFL career as a sharp-shooting forward for Richmond and North Melbourne in the 1930s.
