Bio
Recruited from Queen's College and the rural Gippsland town of Mirboo North, Roy Farmer was a solidly built footballer who made a brief but notable appearance for St Kilda on the eve of the Great War. Standing 182cm and weighing 86kg, he possessed a powerful frame that was well-suited to the physical demands of key position play or the ruck in the pre-war era. He broke into the senior side in Round 1 of the 1914 season and managed eight appearances that year, drifting forward to boot two goals. His VFL career was ultimately limited to that single turbulent season, concluding just as the competition was disrupted by the outbreak of World War I. Farmer eventually returned to the Gippsland region, living out his later years in Dumbalk before passing away in 1951.
