Bio
Selected with the third pick in the 2018 National Draft, Izak Rankine arrived at the Gold Coast Suns as a highly touted South Australian junior from West Adelaide. After battling hamstring issues that delayed his debut until 2020, he quickly displayed the mercurial talent that made him a top prospect, though his time in Queensland was occasionally critiqued for varying intensity levels. Following the 2022 season, he requested a trade back to his home state, a move that cost Adelaide a significant draft haul but provided immediate dividends as he settled into the Crows' forward setup.
Rankine is a dynamic small forward who possesses elite agility, creativity, and an innate goal sense. While initially utilised primarily deep in attack, his evolution at Adelaide has seen him push further up the ground, injecting speed and class into the midfield rotation when required. Known for his ability to manufacture scores from nothing and evade tacklers in tight spaces, he has matured from a highlight-reel specialist into a consistent attacking weapon. Now firmly established as a barometer for the Crows' offence, Rankine is regarded as one of the most dangerous match-winners in the competition.
