Bio
Recruited from Horsham in the Wimmera region, Jack Hartigan was a dimunitive rover and forward pocket who broke into the VFL in the early 1950s. Standing at just 173cm, he relied on agility and goal sense rather than physical size, managing to hit the scoreboard regularly during his short career. After two seasons in and out of the Hawthorn side, where he managed eight goals from 15 appearances, he crossed to St Kilda mid-season in 1952 in search of greater opportunity. He added another seven games to his tally with the Saints before departing the league at the end of 1953, leaving a legacy as a handy country recruit who provided depth for two struggling clubs.
