Bio
Selected with pick 7 in the 2016 National Draft, Jack Scrimshaw arrived at the Gold Coast Suns with significant fanfare as a classy utility from the Sandringham Dragons. His time in Queensland proved difficult, however, as injuries and homesickness restricted him to just four games over two seasons. Following the 2018 season, he secured a trade to Hawthorn in a deal that saw the Suns effectively cut their losses, allowing him to return to Victoria to revitalise his stalling career.
At Waverley Park, Scrimshaw found his niche as a poised intercept defender. Distinguished by his ability to read the flight of the ball and his precision kicking on his preferred left boot, he became a key weapon in the Hawks' transition from defence to attack. While he initially faced challenges cementing a permanent role during the early stages of Sam Mitchell's tenure as coach, he responded to feedback by improving his defensive accountability and physical presence in the contest. Now firmly established in the best 22, Scrimshaw serves as a vital structural pillar in Hawthorn's backline, providing experience and composure behind the ball.
