Bio
The son of former West Coast and Essendon player Matthew Prior, Jaxon Prior was selected by the Brisbane Lions with pick 59 in the 2019 National Draft. A versatile intercept defender and wingman known for his efficient left-foot kicking and ability to read the play, he spent his early career fighting for opportunities in a strong Lions lineup, notably featuring in the club's 2023 Grand Final side as a substitute. Despite his utility value, he struggled to cement a permanent spot in Brisbane's best 22 and was delisted at the conclusion of the 2024 season. He was immediately offered an AFL lifeline by Essendon, returning to his father's former club as a delisted free agent to add mature depth and ball-use quality to the Bombers' defensive rotation.
