Bio
Recruited from Koo Wee Rup in country Victoria, Jim Shelton was a tall utility who briefly represented St Kilda during the early 1920s. Standing 185cm, he possessed the size of a key position player—significant height for that era—but found opportunities scarce at the Junction Oval, managing just three senior appearances over two seasons. While his own VFL career was short-lived and ended without a goal, Shelton blazed a trail for his family at the club; he was the older brother of Jack Shelton, who later joined the Saints and became a celebrated three-time leading goalkicker. Shelton ultimately returned to regional football, leaving a legacy defined less by his own statistics and more by the family connection he established at St Kilda.
