Bio
Recruited from Koo-wee-rup in the West Gippsland region, John Shelton arrived at Fitzroy as a 23-year-old mature-age recruit for the 1957 season. Standing 183cm, he possessed significant height for a forward of that era but played with a lighter frame, managing to boot three goals during his short stint in the seniors. He broke into the Lions' lineup in the first half of the year, playing six consecutive matches before losing his spot in the side. His time at the VFL level was ultimately limited to that single winter, after which he drifted out of league football.
