Bio
Kai Edwards is a versatile key forward who emerged from the West Whyalla Football Club to represent Glenelg in the SANFL Under 18 competition. He enjoyed a strong 2026 campaign with the Tigers, culminating in a premiership victory in the AAMI Talent League Grand Final. His impressive club form earned him a late call-up to the South Australian squad for the Marsh AFL National Championships. He made his state debut against Vic Country, catching the eye by soccering home a crucial goal to help secure a thrilling one-point win for the Croweaters.
Standing at 200cm, Edwards has primarily played as a key forward but shows the flexibility to chop out in the ruck and provide aerial support in defence. Scouts have noted his spring-heeled leap, strong hands and athleticism, which allow him to split packs and take intercept marks. While he is capable of impacting contests with his dynamism, recruiters will want to see him build on his overall consistency. Having elevated his profile with a state appearance and a club flag, Edwards has placed himself on the radar as a developing tall prospect ahead of the 2026 AFL Draft.
