Bio
Recruited from Perth with pick 34 in the 1999 National Draft, Leon Davis arrived at Collingwood as a talented prospect who would evolve into one of the club's most electrifying figures. Dubbed "Neon Leon" for his ability to produce highlights, he established himself as a mercurial small forward capable of turning matches with his elite agility and innate goal sense. While he celebrated individual highs, including the 2008 Goal of the Year and All-Australian selection in 2009, Davis often faced scrutiny for his inconsistency, particularly regarding his limited impact during the 2002 and 2010 Grand Finals.
In the twilight of his career, Davis underwent a remarkable transformation under coach Mick Malthouse during the 2011 season. Shifted to a rebounding half-back role, he utilised his precision kicking and composure to become the architect of Collingwood's defence, earning a second All-Australian blazer in the process. He became the first Indigenous player to reach 200 games for the Magpies, securing a significant place in the club's history. Despite this late-career resurgence, Davis departed the AFL following the 2011 Grand Final loss after failing to agree on a new contract, opting to return to Western Australia rather than extend his tenure at the elite level.
