Bio
Recruited from Caulfield juniors, Les Rippon established himself as a reliable defender for Melbourne during the league's formative years. One of three Rippon brothers to represent the Redlegs, he is best remembered as a member of the club's 1900 premiership side, where he lined up in the back pocket to help orchestrate a famous Grand Final upset over Fitzroy. Despite being a regular fixture in the starting 18, Rippon's career was brought to a premature and unfortunate end in 1902 when he suffered a severe broken leg during an exhibition match in Bendigo.
