Bio
Recruited from Perth with pick 4 in the 2020 National Draft, Logan McDonald arrived at the Sydney Swans carrying the heavy expectation of eventually succeeding Lance Franklin. An athletic key forward who utilises elite endurance to work up the ground and create separation on the lead, McDonald served a visible apprenticeship alongside the legendary goalkicker during his early seasons. His development was marked by resilience, notably bouncing back after the personal heartbreak of being omitted for the 2022 Grand Final. Following Franklin's retirement, McDonald stepped into the role of primary target, turning his back on significant interest from Western Australian clubs to sign a long-term contract extension in 2024. While his contested marking and conversion in major finals have occasionally drawn scrutiny, his aerobic capacity and structural importance have established him as the cornerstone of the Swans' attack as he enters his prime.
